Morning in Oslo & Ski the Holmenkollen Plateau Trails
Enjoy another morning in the city before heading to the Holmenkollen plateau for your first ski.
From 7:30 AM- Breakfast at Hotel Christiania
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure any time between 7:30 and 10:00 AM. Remember to check-out of your room before 11 AM. You can also pay for any extras on your hotel bill at this time. You’re welcome to leave your luggage with your hotel’s reception while you explore town, then pick it up before you head to your next hotel.
Spend the morning exploring more of Oslo, checking out spots you may have missed earlier. Maybe you want to learn a little about Oslo’s history and visit the medieval castle, Akershus fortress. On a nice day you can also head to the Vigeland Park and explore the over 200 sculptures designed by Gustav Vigeland. Beware, they won’t be wearing any clothes! Grab a bite to eat before you head back to your hotel.
Travel to Holmenkollen
After lunch, when you’re ready, grab your luggage and take the local train up to the Holmenkollen plateau. Your room will be ready at your next hotel, Lysebu, any time after 3:00 pm. You can always arrive earlier to drop off your luggage and head out for a ski, although your room will likely not be ready until 3:00 pm.
To reach Hotel Lysebu, walk to the “Nationaltheatret” train station (~ 5 min.). We will check in with you about your travel times and make sure you receive your train tickets. Use your “Ruter” app to validate your ticket before you get on the train.
Take the underground train (Tunnelbana) T1 towards “Frognerseteren”. Travel 18 stops for about 32 mins and get off at the “Voksenkollen” station. From “Voksenkollen” station it is a 10 minute walk (750m) to your next hotel: Lysebu. Please be sure to bring your traction for this walk, which is mostly uphill and can be icy. Although it is inconvenient to carry your suitcase and skis you will get to kick back and relax once you get to the hotel.
Arrive at Lysebu Hotel
You made it! Check-in to your room at Lysebu Hotel any time after 3:00 PM. Your reservation is under your names. If you arrive before your room is ready, drop off your luggage and relax at the hotel or head out for a stroll to explore your new surroundings. If you’d like to go skiing, check out tomorrow’s ski recommendation with directions from your hotel to the Holmenkollen Ski Stadium. You might want to stop for a visit or bite at the Frognerseteren cafe along the way.
Dinner at Lysebu Hotel
Dine at your hotel tonight with a special welcome dinner to kick off the ski-portion of your trip. The hotel’s restaurant opens for dinner any time after 6:00 pm. A table has already been reserved for you and you can arrive when you wish.
