It was incredible to have everything planned to a ‘T. ‘ I can’t emphasize the value of being able to go to races and ski in new places without being lost and having to figure out everything on your own. It took all the stress out of the Worldloppet logistics and international travel. I was instead relaxed; all I had to do was enjoy things. The food and hotels were carefully curated. Even at the finish line! The trip leaders were all special and wonderful people. They anticipated information I would need for the day and clearly looked out for us. Best ski trip ever!

Japan Sapporo trip

Immerse yourself in the unique culture of Japan, from the onsen to the trails.

The north island of Japan awaits on Lumi’s trip to Sapporo and Hokkaido. Explore the culture and terrain that has made this region famous not only for downhill skiing, but cross-country skiing as well. With the opportunity to participate in the Sapporo Ski Marathon, you’ll have the chance to take part in one of the Worldloppet’s few Asia-based events.

Sapporo’s love of winter extends beyond its world-class ski terrain and abundant snowfall. The trip intersects with the Sapporo Snow Festival, a week-long event celebrating ice and snow-based artistry. Stand in awe of building-sized sculptures carved from snow beside hundreds of smaller sculptures inspired by nature and the country’s collective creativity. It’s one of Japan’s top winter destinations and an annual celebration since 1950.

Wrap up your days with freshly caught seafood, handmade sushi and other delicacies found only in the Sapporo area before retiring for a relaxing dip in a traditional Japanese onsen. Visit Mount Moiwa for views over the winter landscape and pay a visit to one of the countless temples and shrines dotting the city.
