Worldloppet Races

The Worldloppet is an international sports federation of cross-country skiing marathons. Currently there are 19 participating races on five continents that are Worldloppet members, each hosting annual events for skiers of all ages and abilities. These races, many of which have decades of history, are attended by thousands of participants from dozens of nations. Legendary ski marathons like the American Birkebeiner, Sweden’s Vasaloppet and Norway’s Birken are all Worldloppet events, as well as many smaller events that share one thing in common: a passion for skiing and sharing the fun with skiers from around the world.

As an official tour operator of the Worldloppet, Lumi Experiences offers guided trips to many Worldloppet events. Led by expert, local trip leaders, Lumi’s group trips take the stress out of your vacation so you can enjoy the trails, races and culture to the fullest. In addition to handling all race logistics, Lumi’s trip leaders offer race waxing services, coordinate transportation and meals throughout your trip, navigate language barriers and offer daily trail recommendations for non-race day outings. Lumi trips feature comfortable accommodations close to the trails and excellent meals inspired by regional cuisine, as well as cultural experiences unique to each destination – helping to make your ski trip much more than simply clipping in each morning.

2027 Worldloppet Trips

The following Lumi Experiences trips include the opportunity to participate in a Worldloppet event. On each trip, Lumi’s expert local trip leaders will assist with race waxing your skis, bib pick-up, transportation to and from the race course and other logistics to make your race day experience as smooth as possible. Some trips include the opportunity to ski in races on back-to-back weekends, earning you two stamps in your Worldloppet passport. Away from the big events, ski with your group on some of our favorite trails, grab a bite to eat at a cozy trailside hut and take in the culture of each destination.

Not interested in racing? Cheer on your fellow skiers and absorb the festive atmosphere, or ski elsewhere on race day with recommendations from Lumi’s trip leaders.

2027 Worldloppet Calendar

A full calendar of upcoming Worldloppet races can be found below. Events denoted with a Silver or Gold designation are eligible to receive corresponding stamps towards becoming a Worldloppet Master.

Become a Worldloppet Master

Lumi guest Gunnar Knapp celebrates reaching Worldloppet Master in 2026

To earn the title of Worldloppet Master, a skier must complete 10 Worldloppet races, one of which must be on a different continent. The Worldloppet Gold Master designation is granted to skiers who finish ten different Gold-level races. These lengthy races test a skier’s endurance and perseverance. Worldloppet Silver Masters must complete either ten Silver-level races, or a combination of ten Silver and Gold races. Although typically shorter, Silver-level Worldloppet races are often dozens of kilometers and are still an impressive accomplishment.

Race finishes can be viewed on the Worldloppet website. You can also track your progress towards becoming a Worldloppet Master in a dedicated Worldloppet Passport. After each race, skiers earn a special stamp for that particular race’s distance, whether Silver or Gold. It’s a fun, visual way to see how far along you are towards achieving your Masters Diploma. If you don’t have one already, Lumi is proud to offer Worldloppet Passports free of charge to skiers on our Worldloppet trips.

Once you have reached 10 Worldloppet races, you can apply to become a Worldloppet Master. In addition to bragging rights and access to exclusive swag, the Master title comes with a diploma and a special medal celebrating your achievement. Several Lumi guests have reached this noteworthy achievement on our trips and each one is accompanied by a special celebration. You can read about a few of our recent Masters recipients below.

Gunnar Knapp reached Gold at the Engadin Worldloppet

John, Leslie and Hilary achieved the feat in 2025

Ken Hughes reached Master status before 70 at the Kangaroo Hoppet
