Monday - Holmenkollen Plateau

Overview
Enjoy a day of skiing around the Holmenkollen plateau.

From 7:00 AM - Breakfast
Breakfast is available at your hotel from 7:00 - 9:30 AM. God appetitt!

Ski Trail Recommendation
Head out the door to explore the Holmenkollen ski trails. The trails lead you to the Holmenkollen stadium, which has hosted several Olympic Games and World Championships. The stadium also hosts the iconic Holmenkollen ski jump & ski museum, the world’s oldest ski museum. Tickets for these sites cannot be purchased in advance. Please send the receipt for your tickets to Garrott, so he can refund you.

Directions to Holmenkollen Ski Jump

From your hotel, walk back to the Voksenkollen station. A small bridge leads over the train tracks and to the ski trail head. You can put your skis on here and start your adventure. We recommend following the trail highlighted in green below. This will take you about 5 km to the Holmenkollen Ski Stadium. The trail starts with a gradual climb, up towards the radio tower. After you take off your skis to cross the road, it’s mostly downhill to the Holmenkollen ski stadium.

Along the way, you’ll pass the Frognerseteren lodge, our recommendation for lunch a bit later in the day.

Continue on the trail following signs for Holmenkollen Stadium. Assuming weather allows, you will have expansive views of Oslo and the Oslo Fjord below.

Once you reach the stadium and ski jump, we recommend exploring the surrounding trails. Ski as much or as little as you like. These trails are used for the annual Nordic Combined, Biathlon and Cross Country World Cup competitions. When you are ready, walk to the base of the ski jump and the entrance to the Norwegian Ski Museum.

After your visit, ski back towards your hotel.

Lunch Recommendation

Finish your ski with a bite to eat at Frognerseteren, one of the most popular restaurants on the trail network.

The hut has two options for lunch: an a la carte cafe where you can order your favorite treats and sit at one of the lodges big tables inside or out. If your are looking for more of a fine dining experience, you can also sit down and order off the menu. Given you’re in the middle of your ski, we recommend simply ordering from the cafe. The sit-down restaurant option might be better for an evening dinner out.

Return to your hotel

The ski from Frognerseteren back to your hotel is about 5 km. Ski through Voksenkollen on the way back. We recommend the route highlighted in blue below (~5 km), for a slight extension to your ski. If you’re looking for a shorter option, you can ski directly home going the other direction on the green trail you started on (~3 km).

Dinner
Dinner is on your own tonight at your hotel or at one of several restaurants on the plateau. You can take the train to the Holmenkollen T stop and walk to Holmenkollen Restaurant or take the train to Frognerseteren T stop and walk to Frognerseteren Restaurant. Or choose to take the train into Oslo for another dinner in the city.

God natt!
