Discover the birthplace of skiing!

March is the perfect time to visit Norway with long, sunny days and plenty of snow. Your hotel on the Holmenkollen plateau provides a perfect starting point to seemingly endless ski trails. Walk to the trails and ski to your heart’s content, in a country where skiing is the way of life. Visit the Norwegian ski museum to immerse yourself in the ski culture and take in the views of Oslo from atop the ski jump. A favorite local activity is sledding the Korketrekkeren or “corkscrew” trail, accessible by tram so you can simply enjoy the childhood thrill of swooshing downhill.

Your week continues in Lillehammer, site of the 1994 Olympic Games and proverbial birthplace of skiing. Walk out the door of your hotel and stroll the Storgata cobbled pedestrian street running through the center of town. The trip also includes a day of skiing in Sjusjøen, a skier’s paradise in the midst of virtually endless ski trails.

Extend your trip by staying two nights in Norway’s capital city and explore Oslo’s old town and the banks of the fjord before embarking on your journey home.
