Mid-Season Skiing in France, Finland and Italy
Skiing beneath the Dolomites on the Seiser Alm pleateu
The midway point of the 2026 winter season is here! There’s no slowing down as Lumi skiers explore the trails and culture in France, Finland and Italy. Recent snowfall across the Alps has built up an excellent base while chilly temperatures in Finland promise to make post-sauna dips especially refreshing. Read on to find out what Lumi guests have been up to in the midst of an exciting winter.
Finishing the Transju’ in France
After starting their week being blanketed in fresh snow, guests on Lumi’s France Transju’ trip were treated to fantastic conditions for the Transjurassienne Worldloppet event.
In addition to the excitement of the Transju’, guests also spent a sunny day at Les Tuffes Stadium learning the art of biathlon from local experts. No trip to the French Jura would be complete without plenty of fondue tastings over trailside lunches and delicious group dinners savored after a day on the trail.
To cap off the week, skiers traversed the Transju’ course while being cheered on by their new friends and enthusiastic French ski fans. The group celebrated one of their own earning a well-deserved Worldloppet Master diploma, a rare accomplishment given to those who have skied in 10 different Worldloppet events. Congrats, Fiona!
Frigid Skiing in Finland
1200 miles to the northeast, Lumi’s trip to Finland & Estonia kicked off last weekend with temperatures hovering just above 0°F for the start of the Finlandia-Hiihto Worldloppet event in Lahti.
Despite the chilly weather, Lumi guests were all smiles beneath multiple buffs, Kinesio tape and ice mustaches. The ongoing coldwave made for hard snow and fast conditions as skiers eagerly sipped warm blueberry soup at aid stations to replenish their energy and warm themselves from the inside out. No two races on the Worldloppet circuit are alike, and this winter’s varying weather conditions have been a reminder while making for some memorable experiences.
Following the frigid opening events, the trip settled into a more relaxed skiing in and around Lahti before getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Peltonen ski factory – the perfect activity for a cool afternoon.
Scenic Skiing in Seiser Alm
Lumi guests put the recent snowfall in the southern Alps to good use as they soaked up the scenery on the Seiser Alm plateau.
At times it felt like we were skiing above the clouds! Conditions were magical as the sun lit up the Dolomite peaks surrounding the trails below. It was a stunning day of skiing.
