Cheer alongside friends and past-Olympians at the 2027 Falun World Championships
With this season’s Nordic competitions wrapping up at the final Worldloppet event of the season this weekend in Iceland, we’re already looking ahead to next year’s big event: the 2027 FIS World Championships in Falun, Sweden. We’re thrilled to be returning to the World Championships next season and hope you can join us!
Spend time in the historic city of Stockholm before or after your trip
A Winter of Excitement in Sweden
Lumi has two trips scheduled for next year’s competitions in Falun at the peak of the winter season. Sweden will be buzzing with excitement in late-February and early-March, not only because this biennial World Championship event returns to Falun for the first time since 2015, but also because the Championships overlap with the run-up to the legendary Vasaloppet Ski Marathon, the world’s largest cross country ski race. All eyes will be on Falun and the nearby community of Mora as skiers from around the world congregate for two incredible weeks of festivities.
Your Itinerary: Stockholm, Mora & Beyond
Lumi’s Falun World Championships trips begin in the historic city of Stockholm. We recommend arriving a day or two early to tour the city’s museums – including the famed Vasa Museum, Nobel Prize Museum, Fotografiska, and for music lovers, ABBA The Museum – and local architecture, from the Riddarholmen Church to Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s “Old Town.”
Get daily trail recommendations from your local trip leaders
After visiting Sweden’s largest city, join up with the group and head north to the community of Mora in the heart of Sweden’s Dalarna region. Your accommodations for the week are located just a few blocks from the finish line of the Vasaloppet. Walk out your door to immerse yourself in the excitement of each day’s events and access the community’s trails, restaurants and shopping.
Other trail networks in the area include Norra Garberg and Orsa Grönklitt (pronounced Oo-sha), the latter of which has 12 km of lit trails for a magical evening ski through the region’s famed pine forests.
Skiing, Culture & Local Experiences
Paint your own Dala horse and tour the factory where the symbol of the region is made
Besides skiing, each World Championships trip includes a tour of the Falun Copper Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the historic source of much of Europe’s copper ore for several hundred years. Now shut down, visit this important driver of the region’s economy for most of its history before enjoying a dinner in Falun with the group. The trips also include a special tour of the Dalarna Horse factory to learn how the region’s most famous symbol is created, along with the opportunity to paint your own Dala Horse after learning the unique rosemaling flower painting techniques.
Race Highlights at Lugnet Ski Arena
Each trip features a different slate of races to spectate at the Lugnet Ski Arena in Falun. Week 1 (February 23 - March 1, 2027) includes the Skate Sprints, and both the Men’s and Women’s Skiathlons. Week 2 (March 1 - 8, 2027) visits Falun for the Team Sprints, Men’s and Women’s Relays, and Men’s and Women’s 50 km. Be sure to pack your best spectating outfits for the occasion! Transportation to and from Falun is included, as well as grandstand tickets for each event so you can watch the exciting finishes from the stands or at trailside spectator spots as the world’s top skiers cruise past just a few meters away.

Root on your favorite athletes alongside thousands of fans from around the world with grandstand tickets to each week's cross-country races
Ski the Legendary Vasaloppet
Both trips include the opportunity to participate in either the Öppet Spår (Week 1) or Vasaloppet (Week 2) ski marathons, allowing you to earn a coveted Worldloppet stamp during your visit to Sweden. Lumi has guaranteed entry to the Vasaloppet events, wax techs to assist with preparing skis and logistical support throughout from your local trip leaders. Once you’ve completed your Vasaloppet event, walk a few blocks back to your hotel for a relaxing visit to their extensive wellness center before a celebratory farewell dinner with your group.
Unique Winter Adventures: Dog Sledding
With a little more free time in between the World Championship races, the Week 1 departure includes the opportunity to try out dog sledding with local mushers. Meet the stars of the show and ride on snowy trails as you’re whisked along on a fun-filled adventure with your group. It’s a wonderful experience that we look forward to sharing with you.
