God morgen!
Another day of skiing awaits you as you explore more trails in the Nordmarka region.
From 7:00 AM - Breakfast
Breakfast is available at your hotel from 7:00 - 9:30 AM this morning.
Ski to Kobberhaughytta
Head out to explore more of the Holmenkollen ski trails. Today’s trail recommendation takes you further north to the Kobberhaughytta, about 8 km from your start in Voksenkollen. The total ski distance today is about 16 km on the green trail or about 20 km if you take the blue extension.
After yesterday’s ski to the Holmenkollen Stadium overlooking Oslo, today’s ski heads in the other direction and offers skiing on a seemingly remote network of trails. You might never guess you are so close to Norway’s capital.
Start today’s ski at the Voksenkollen Station again. This time simply continue north. You will pass by the Tryvannstua Hut and the Oslo Winter Park alpine ski area. That hut is mostly for alpine skiers, so we recommend continuing north. You’ll pass by the Nordmarka Kapella Chapel along the way, a small church in the woods used to host gatherings.
The rolling trail continues to the Kobberhaughytte, our recommended lunch stop today.
Lunch Recommendation
Your lunch spot for the day is “Kobberhaughytta”. Here you can try the local specialty: waffles with brown cheese and clotted cream. This traditional lunch is one of the most popular in Norway. Enjoy!
Return to Voksenkollen
After lunch, a parallel trail takes you back south towards Voksenkollen and your hotel. If you wish to get in a little more skiing and perhaps visit another hut, we recommend taking the spur to Skennungsstua. Similar to the Kobberhaughytte, Skennungsstua offers a view of the surrounding Nordmarka region (there’s a steep, but relatively short climb to reach it), as well as waffles and other traditional Norwegian treats. Perhaps you’ll try one of their famous cinnamon rolls or a coffee to get you back to the hotel.
From Skjennnungstua, follow the trail back past Tryvannstua and the alpine ski hill to Voksenkollen station, where you can walk back to your hotel.
Afternoon - Sledding the "Korketrekkeren"
After lunch, if conditions allow, pick up a sled and take a slide down the Korketrekkeren, “corkscrew” trail. This trail is sure to bring joy to your inner child.
If the track is open, the sled rental shop under the Frogneseteren restaurant is expecting you. Stop in, tell them your name and grab your rental sled. Click on this link and show them the gift card to pick up your sleds. There is no further cost for using the “corkscrew” trail.
A train at the bottom of the trail brings you comfortably back to the top of the hill to “Frogneseteren” station. You can return your sled to the rental shop and ski home afterwards. The trail is open even after sunset until 9 PM.
Dinner
Raise a glass to your last night in Oslo this evening, before packing for tomorrow's trip to Lillehammer. Your hotel restaurant, Holmenkollen Restaurant, Frognerseteren or another restaurant in Oslo are all good options for dinner. Reminisce about your time in the Nordmarka as you prepare for your time in Lillehammer. Pack your bags for tomorrow’s journey.
God natt!
