König Ludwig Lauf Skate Race
This morning is the König Ludwig Lauf skate marathon.
6:30 AM - Breakfast begins at Hotel Böld
Our hotel opens its breakfast early for a special pre-race buffet.
7:45 AM - First Departure from Hotel Böld
21 km racers meet in the hotel lobby at 7:45 AM to take the shuttle to the race. 50 km racers meet in the hotel lobby at 8:45 AM to take the shuttle to the race. The race shuttles will run in intervals of about 10 - 15 minutes and take 10 minutes to reach the race start in Ettal.
The 21 km freestyle race starts at 9:00 AM. The 50 km freestyle race starts at 10:00 AM. The race will have clothing bags for you to drop off any warm-up clothes you do not wish to carry with you during the race.
Once the race starts, enjoy the 21 or 50km tour of the German countryside. The race starts by skiing past the iconic monastery in Ettal, then continues through fields and woods on a relatively flat course. There are several aid stations along the way.
For non-racers, you may wish to bus or ski to the start to cheer on your travel companions. Afterwards, ski back to the finish -- or further. Today is yours to enjoy as you wish: prepare for tomorrow's classic race, ski from the hotel on the local trails, relax in your hotel or explore town.
4:00 - 6:00 PM - Wellness Area is Open
For a fee of €15/person, you can make a reservation in the morning for a private spa time in the afternoon.
6:30 PM - Team Meeting & Dinner at Hotel Böld
Meet your trip leader for a course preview and review important logistics for tomorrow’s classic event. Please remember to drop off your races skis with your trip leader to be waxed for the König Ludwig Lauf tomorrow as well.
A special pre-race dinner is planned at your hotel this evening. Share stories from the day and prepare for tomorrow’s big event. After dinner, kick back and relax as your skis are prepared for your race tomorrow.
