Good morning!
Today head out to explore more of the trails around Ski in Seiser Alm and have a special lunch at Gostner Schwaige.
7:30 am - Breakfast opens
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure. Your hotel serves a hearty breakfast with South Tirolern products from 7:30 - 11:00 am.
Recommended ski:
Trail 1 -> Trail 3 -> Trail 5 -> Trail 6 -> Trail 7; and back. = ~ 17 km
Today’s recommended ski is relatively short and flat, as you acclimate to the elevation, but still enough to work up an appetite for lunch and a cheese tasting at the Gostner Schwaige.
Again, take Trail 1 to Ritsch Schwaige. From there, Trails 3, 5 and 6 climb gradually and roll with views to the Sella Massif, one of most famous peaks in the Dolomites. There are opportunities for cut-offs to make this loop shorter too. Trail 4 is a short out-and-back trail to Hotel Sonne, that adds about 3 km. Trail 7 is a bit hillier and typically only open when conditions allow. It may or may not be open in the early season when you are there. Continue skiing back to the Ritsch Schwaige trail head. A lunch and cheese tasting is planned today at the Gostner Schwaige restaurant.
To get to the Gostner Schwaige, the easiest way is to take trail 1 back towards your hotel. Shortly after passing under the chairlift, there will be a walking path / road, where you can take off your skis and go left uphill to the paved road. On the paved road, go right and walk about 200 m to the entrance to Hotel Steger Dellai. Take a left to walk past Hotel Steger Dellai and continue uphill, following signs to Gostner Schwaige. It should take about 10 - 15 minutes to get there from when you leave the ski trail.
2:30 pm - Lunch at the Gostner Schwaige
We recommend arriving at the restaurant around 2:30 - 3:00 pm for lunch. A special lunch is planned for you with the house specialty, Heublütensuppe — a bread-bowl soup with wildflowers and herbs. Afterwards, the owner of the Gostner Schwaige, Franz Mulser, will join you for a tasting of his local cheeses. Past guests recommend bringing a big appetite to this lunch. Here is an article about the Gostner Schwaige in Modern Farmer Magazine.
After lunch, walk back to the trail the same way you got there and ski the remaining 2 km or so back to your hotel – or extend your ski if you’re feeling up for additional trail time.
Afternoon & Dinner
Some sweet treats are available at your hotel in the afternoon and, again, seating for dinner is from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Prost!
