 ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

This section includes information for your arrival and departure from Europe, including logistics, recommended accommodations and city visit ideas for Verona.

Arrival in Verona

We look forward to seeing you in Verona at the start of your trip! A Lumi shuttle will be departing from the Verona Airport (VRN) at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, February 17. Your flight should arrive no later than 1:40 pm Verona Time. If you plan to take the shuttle from the airport on February 17, please let us know in advance (info@lumiexperiences.com) so that we can give you the exact pick-up location.

The shuttle will also make a stop around 2:00 pm at Hotel Giberti (Via Gian Matteo Giberti, 7) in Verona, to pick up guests who arrive earlier. Hotel Giberti is the hotel closest to Verona’s city center where our shuttle is allowed to drop off guests. The group will then travel around 2 hours by coach bus to your hotel in Cavalese, Italy.

Given the potential for delayed flights in the winter, and the opportunity to spend a little extra time in Verona, we highly recommend that you arrive at least one day early. This will also help you acclimate to the time change for the rest of the trip. Please note that we cannot wait for delayed arrivals.

If you arrive early with time to explore Verona, you can take a taxi or public transportation from the airport. We simply recommend taking a taxi, which takes about 20 min. and costs around 40 Euros, especially if you are staying in Verona’s old town. After going through customs and baggage claim, there is a taxi station outside of Arrivals. Alternatively, a shuttle from the airport to the Porto Nuovo train station leaves every 20 minutes and costs around 10 Euros.

We have highlighted accommodation and itinerary recommendations for your time in Verona below.

Recommended Accommodation in Verona: Hotel Giberti

The four-star boutique Hotel Giberti (Via Gian Matteo Giberti, 7) is located on the edge of the old town in Verona, about 1 km from the Verona Arena and central Piazza Bra. 1 km in the other direction takes you to Verona's main train station, Porta Nuova.

Hotel Giberti suggested reaching out to them directly in mid-December by email info@hotelgiberti.it or by phone +39 045 8006900, as they may be able to release some rooms that are currently being held for the convention.

Other hotels our guests have been happy with in the past include:

Hotel Milano (Vicolo Tre Marchetti, 11) +39 045 591692
3-star superior hotel located about 100m from central Piazza Bra and the Arena

Hotel Accademia (Via Scala, 12) +39 045 596222
4-star superior hotel in the heart of Verona's pedestrian old town

If you decide to stay at one of our recommended hotels in Verona’s old town, your hotel can help you arrange a taxi to travel with your luggage to meet the Lumi shuttle at Hotel Giberti on February 17th at 2:00 pm.

Verona is a city of timeless romance, captivating history, and stunning architecture, nestled in the heart of northern Italy’s Veneto region. During your visit we recommend a stroll through Verona’s old town to some of our favorite sites.

Departure from Verona

On Monday, February 23, a Lumi shuttle will be transporting guests from Cavalese to Verona. We recommend spending an evening in Verona before flying from the Verona Airport on Tuesday, February 24 or later. However, should your plans require a departure on Monday, please plan to depart from the Verona Airport (VRN) at 1:00 pm or later.

After dropping guests off at the Verona airport around 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, our coach bus will bring guests staying in Verona to Hotel Giberti (Via Gian Matteo Giberti, 7), arriving around 11:30 pm. Hotel Giberti is the hotel closest to Verona’s city center where our shuttle is allowed to drop off guests.

If you cannot find convenient flights from Verona back home, you may want to consider Venice or Munich as other options for your return flight. You can reach Venice by train from Verona Porto Nuova train station in about 90 minutes, and Munich by train from Verona Porto Nuova in about 6 hours. In both of these cases, we recommend flights departing on Tuesday, February 24 at the earliest.

We have highlighted accommodation and itinerary recommendations for your time in Verona above.

  PREPARING TO TRAVEL

As you make your final travel preparations, this section includes information on packing, minimizing jet lag, helpful tips for staying connected during your trip, and more.

We recommend packing enough clothes for your full trip. Most of your hotels have drying racks in the bathrooms and boot heaters in the ski rooms, making them a good place to dry your ski boots and clothes between days.

Average Temperature: Temperatures where you will be traveling should be in the 20 - 30° F, though it may get a little warmer or colder in some places.

Traveling overseas is never easy, especially when you are aiming to be fit and healthy upon arrival. The US Ski Team has published recommendations for athletes to minimize jet lag.
