Skis & Ski waxing
Due to variable trail conditions, we recommend bringing skate skis or waxless (skin) classic skis on your trip. The majority of trails will be groomed for both classic and skate so you will have the option of either most days. Some guests also like to bring race-specific skis if they’ll be skiing an event. Ultimately, it's up to you how many skis you would like to bring.
If you will be flying to Europe with your skis, check out our tips for traveling with a ski bag. Using travel wax is recommended to keep the bases fresh, but not necessary.
We will be glide waxing your skis during the trip, race waxing before any events, and even cleaning and preparing them to travel home with you. Please let your trip leaders know in the evening if you prefer to skate or classic ski the next day and we will have your skis ready for you in the morning. There will often be a designated space in the ski room for you to leave the skis you wish to have prepared for the next day.
Your trip leaders will not be servicing classic kick wax during the trip (except for before races), however, a basic selection of classic kick waxes will be available, if you decide to bring waxable classic skis and choose to wax your own skis. If so, we also recommend bringing a cork and small assortment of kick waxes with you to add more wax on the trail. We also ask that you please arrive at morning departure times with your classic skis waxed for the day.
