The Milan Cortina Winter Olympics
Finishing the 50km at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim - focus and grit as racers dig deep towards the finish
The world is just a few short months away from the start of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The excitement is building for the athletes aiming for a medal, as well as for the communities hosting this once-in-a-lifetime event and the spectators traveling to cheer on their favorite athletes. Lumi is excited to offer three trips to the upcoming Olympic Games, showcasing this thrilling event alongside Cavalese’s beautiful trails and unique ski culture.
Although Lumi’s Opening Week event is sold out, there is still limited space available in the Middle and Closing Week trips. Spots are filling fast though as winter approaches. If skiing at Passo Lavazé under the majestic Dolomites, exploring portions of the legendary Marcialonga race course and watching the world’s best skiers chase gold sounds like your dream vacation, reach out by October 15 to secure your spot!
Cheer on Your Favorite Racers
The Culmination of a Journey
Back in 2006, when I decided to pursue a ski racing career with the goal of competing in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, I knew that earning a spot on the US Olympic Team would not come overnight. I set a goal of competing on the Europa Cup circuit in 2007, the World Cup in 2008 and the World Championships in 2009. There were plenty of “thrill of victory and agony of defeat” moments in those four years, but in the end, I achieved each of those goals along the final steps of the journey to becoming an Olympian.
In launching Lumi’s first Olympic trips, I feel a similar arc to the journey. The first Lumi trip ran in 2018 to the Seefeld World Cup, where guests cheered on Jessie Diggins and Sophie Caldwell to back-to-back World Cup victories, just weeks before Jessie and Kikkan Randall teamed up to win Gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in Korea. Lumi now runs several Worldloppet and World Cup trips, plus trips to World Championships in Seefeld 2019, Planica in 2023 and Trondheim in 2025. Now we are on the cusp of hosting three trips to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy!
A Taste of the Action & Italy
Lumi has built relationships and operated trips in Cavalese, the gateway village to the Olympic cross country skiing events, since 2019. Lumi’s trip leaders have a deep knowledge of the finest cuisine, the most scenic trails and the top spots to watch the cross country ski events that will take place each week. This is an ideal venue for an exciting Lumi Olympics experience. Each trip includes grandstand tickets to that week’s cross country ski events (including those events that are already sold out!), as well as transportation to and from the venues and nearby trails.
Tour de Ski: Big Thrills With Easier Access
Lumi’s Tour de Ski trip (January 2-10, 2026) offers many of the same aspects that make the Olympic trips special in a more relaxed package. This trip is both more affordable and intimate, with easier access to get you closer to the action of a World Cup race. The Tour de Ski is an exciting event in its own right, but without the spotlight of the Olympics there are additional opportunities to discover the region’s treasures, like three days of skiing at Seiser Alm and a stop at a local farm-to-table restaurant where guests learn to make ricotta cheese and pair it with some of South Tyrol’s best wines. Here are a few impressions from Lumi guests on last winter’s World Championships trip in Trondheim, Norway:
“Both the ski races and non-ski event activities were great. A really good mix. Seeing the level of enthusiasm of the crowd was fabulous.” - Kerry Vermeer
“The atmosphere and energy of the crowds was really something. It’s hard to understand unless you were there.” - Gary Luttman
“It was incredible to have everything planned to a 'T. ' I can't emphasize the value of being able to go to races and ski in new places without being lost and having to figure out everything on your own. It took all the stress out of the logistics and international travel. I was instead relaxed, all I had to do was enjoy things. The food and hotels were carefully curated and right in the center of the skiing. Even at the finish line! The trip leaders were all special and wonderful people. They anticipated information I would need for the day and clearly looked out for us. Best ski trip ever!” - Jim Allen
Watching the Olympics in person is an indescribable experience everyone should have in their lifetime – especially in Italy. If cheering on your favorite athletes alongside tens of thousands of other fans in the heart of Italy’s ski country sounds like a dream, reach out to Lumi today to reserve a spot!
