Day 8 - Seefeld & Leutasch

From 7:30 AM - 10:00 Breakfast at Hotel St Peter
Today is the first day of the "Seefeld Triple" Nordic Combined World Cup events. If you choose to watch today's Nordic Combined competitions, tickets are on your own (approx. 20 Euro). We will be providing tickets to the World Cup competitions on Saturday and Sunday, which includes both Cross Country and Nordic Combined competitions. We recommend taking today to go skiing and explore more of the trails around Seefeld or to take the local bus to Leutasch and explore some of the trails in the next valley.

Today could also be a good day for alpine skiing at the local Rosshütte ski area. It is about a 15 minute walk from our hotel and you can rent equipment right at the base station.

Lunch is on your own today. We can give trail and hut recommendations for today as well.

7:00 PM - Dinner at Hotel St Peter
Finish your evening with dinner at our hotel

Day 7 - Seefeld & Wax Trailer Tour

From 7:30 AM - 10:00 Breakfast at Hotel St Peter
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure

9:00 AM - Ski in Seefeld
Seefeld has a 200+ km network of trails linking several valleys and even reaching into Germany. Even if you skied all four of our days here, it would be hard to ski every trail. We are happy to share recommendations for our favorite trails and huts along the way.

Lunch is on your own today. You may choose to stop for at any number of trailside huts.

2:00 PM - US Ski Team wax truck tour (tentative)
We have been invited by Chris Grover, US Ski Team head coach, to take a tour of the national team's new secret weapon. This opportunity depends on their availability and workload during the week, but they really want to make it happen. Their one request is that we only take the tour if we are feeling 100% healthy, as athletes and coaches are about 3 weeks out from the Olympic Games. Perhaps this gives us an excuse to ski one fewer km earlier in the week.

6:00 PM - Tyrolean Culture
Our trip leaders: Elena from Italy and Petra from Austria, will share some language tips with us throughout the trip. However, language and food are only a part of the culture. A trip to Tyrol would not be complete without this surprise activity.

7:00 PM - Dinner at Hotel St Peter
We have invited Chris Grover and US Ski Team women's head coach Matt Whitcomb to join us for dinner. Assuming their week is going smoothly, they'll raise a glass with us tonight.

Day 6 - Toblach, Innsbruck & Seefeld

From 7:30 AM - Breakfast at Hotel Cristallo
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure this morning.

10:00 AM - Check out and travel to Innsbruck & Seefeld
After saying arrivederci to our hotel, we board a coach bus for the ride through the scenic Puster Valley in Italy and over the Brenner Pass into Austria.

12:30 PM - Afternoon in Innsbruck
Arrive in Innsbruck in time for lunch with the opportunity for a little time in the city. We will have recommendations for several restaurants and a short walk through the self-proclaimed "Capital of the Alps."

Our bus will continue to Seefeld and drop off our skis and luggage. If you have not skied enough by this point in the trip, you can continue with the bus directly to Seefeld.

4:00 PM - Travel by train from Innsbruck to Seefeld
There are trains every 30 minutes from Innsbruck to Seefeld. One of the most scenic trains trips in Austria takes us over bridges and through tunnels as we traverse the Nordkette range to Seefeld. The train ride gets us there in about 40 minutes. We are happy to give you directions, if you prefer to travel to Seefeld earlier or later on your own.

We will walk about 15 minutes through downtown Seefeld to Hotel St Peter.

5:00 PM - Arrive at Hotel St Peter
Our luggage awaits us at our hotel, where we settle in for the next five nights.

7:00 PM - Dinner at Hotel St Peter
Enjoy dinner at our hotel. We will be dining here for our dinners the rest of the week. As most hotels in Seefeld host guests for a week at a time, it is common for them to rotate the menu so that we have new choices nightly. Restaurant options in Seefeld outside of hotels are limited. If you choose to try other restaurants in Seefeld, we are happy to share our recommendations.

Day 5 - Toblach

From 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM Breakfast at Hotel Cristallo
Breakfast is available at our hotel from 7:30 - 9:30 AM every morning.

Today is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. Our two suggestions are either to alpine ski in Cortina or cross country ski from Cortina to Toblach (approx 30 km). If you choose either of these options, we will depart our hotel at 8:45 AM and take a shuttle bus to Cortina (about 45 minutes).

You may also prefer to ski in Toblach on your own, relax or explore the village.

A public ski bus can also shuttle you back to Toblach in about 45 minutes, departing Cortina Autostazione at 1:05 PM, 3:05 PM and 5:05 PM. Lunch is on your own today. Our lunch recommendations include the gritty Chalet Passo Cimabanche (think ham and cheese on white bread) or the Restaurant Dürrensee / Lago di Landro, more similar to a full-service restaurant.

7:00 PM - Dinner at Hotel Cristallo
Raise a glass to our last night in Italy.

Day 4 - Lienz to Toblach

From 7:30 AM - Breakfast at Hotel Goldener Fisch
After two early mornings, this morning will be much more relaxed. Our hotel will open the buffet at their normal 7:30 AM time. Arrive any time after that for breakfast. We will have time this morning to relax.

10:00 AM - Checkout and departure
We say so long to the Goldener Fisch, Lienz and Austria this morning, as we travel by coach bus into Italy.

11:00 AM - Sledding and Skiing in Italy
We arrive in Italy after a one hour bus ride. Our bus will drop us off in Innichen/San Candido, about a 5 km ski from our hotel. In Innichen/San Candido, we will take the Haunold Ski Lift to a hut on the alpine ski slope for lunch. Lunch is on your own. After lunch, take a sled, known locally as a Rodel, on trails back into the valley.

Please note: if you prefer, you can also continue from Innichen/San Candido with the bus to our hotel.

3:00 PM - Arrive and check in to Hotel Cristallo
Arrive and check in at our hotel in Toblach/Dobbiaco any time after 3:00 PM. If you are arriving in Toblach/Dobbiaco by skis: after passing the trail station, take off your skis at the road crossing, then turn right to cross the train tracks, walk slightly uphill about 750m, Hotel Cristallo is a big yellow building on the right-hand side of the street.

Enjoy time in the late afternoon settling into our accommodation for the next two nights. There is a pool, sauna and wellness center at our hotel. The small town center of Toblach/Dobbiaco is also about a 10 minute walk from our hotel.

7:00 PM - Dinner at Hotel Cristallo
Our hotel is known for their cuisine that reflects their geography on the border between Austria and Italy -- a menu could include both parma ham and Apfelstrudel.

Day 1 - Munich to Lienz

12:00 PM - Bus pick-up at Hotel Stadt Rosenheim in Munich
For guests spending time in Munich before our trip, our coach bus will arrive at the Hotel Stadt Rosenheim (Orleansplatz 6a), across from the Ostbahnhof (East Train Station) to pick you up shortly before Noon.

Please plan to eat lunch before we depart. Our bus will be able to make restrooms stops along the way.

4:00 PM - Arrive at Hotel Goldener Fisch in Lienz
We will settle in at our accommodation in Lienz for the next three nights. Shortly after arrival, we will prepare your classic skis for tomorrow. It is up to you which technique you choose, but we recommend classic skiing on Saturday, as all of the trails where we are skiing in Obertilliach will be classic tracked for the marathon. It will be helpful to arrive with your kick zones marked and cleaned for our preparations.

6:00 PM - Welcome reception & dinner at Hotel Goldener Fisch
We will have a brief welcome reception followed by dinner at our hotel.

Please note: the Night Sprints in Lienz have been moved to Obertilliach. Rather than drive an extra 90 minutes round-trip after a long travel day to watch the sprints, we will continue to spend the evening in Lienz and enjoy a more relaxed dinner.
