Arrive in Oberammergau in time for lunch around 12:30 pm . There are several restaurants in the small town. The hotel can make recommendations, based off of your wishes. The hotel can hold your luggage until check-in at 3:00 pm. You may also use the hotel’s wellness center to change and head out for an afternoon ski. The wellness center is open from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, but can also be opened earlier upon request or to change clothes after traveling.
The hotel is a short 500m walk from the finish of the König Ludwig Lauf ski marathon. You can walk to the finish and ski some of the trail you will be racing on this weekend. As the snow conditions have been particularly good this winter, the race anticipates running the full 50km loop for the long race and a 21km loop for the short race. Details will be available at bib pick-up.
We recommend skiing an out-and-back ski this afternoon on the race course, either to the starting area about 4km in Ettal from Oberammergau or backwards on the course until you turn around. You will likely find the skiing on the König Ludwig Lauf course relatively flat, with only a few short climbs.

Bib pickup is a short walk from Hotel Maximilian. See the “pencil” icon on the Oberammergau map below. Bib pickup is open until 7:00 pm on Friday night. You may also pick up your bib at the race start on Saturday or Sunday.
You may switch events up until the night before the race start. Race changes (“Ummeldungen”) should be made at bib pickup. There is a fee of around 20 Euros to switch races.
Return to your hotel to check-in and settle in after your ski.
5:00 pm (revised time):
We have organized ski waxing for the race for you. Please leave your skis at the hotel reception by 5:00 pm the night before your race. Your wax technician will pick up the skis there and drop them off with the reception after they are finished and ready for the race. They should be ready by the time you wake up on Saturday morning.

At 7:00 pm, there are 100m elite sprints at the König Ludwig finish area. The sprints are in knockout format with two racers going head-to-head and the winner moving on to the next round. At check-in, you will want to let the hotel know if you plan to go to the sprints, so they can plan your dinner time accordingly.
Finally, enjoy a pre-race dinner at your hotel. The hotel also has a brewery. You may wish to sample some of their local beers.
